Grok subscription guide
Two entry points that are not the same purchase, and what to check before paying for either.
Why are there two places to subscribe?
Because the paid tier is offered both through the X membership it was originally bundled with and through xAI’s own product. They are billed separately, and what each one includes has changed more than once.
Before paying, check which one your account is actually being offered, and whether the entitlement you want is listed on that specific checkout page. Do not assume they are interchangeable.
What blocks people most often?
The card, and then the region the account is treated as being in. The second one surprises people because it can differ from where they are: what matters is what the platform has recorded, not where you are sitting.
If the checkout page will not load a payment form at all, that is usually the region, not the card.
Will you sell this one?
Yes — at the official sticker price, on the plan page.
One thing to set expectations on: this one is handled by a person, not the automated channel we use for ChatGPT. You get an email within a business day rather than an instant activation.
Where this leaves you
If the card is the part that is blocking you, that is the part we sell — see the Grok plan for the price and what it needs from you. If it is not blocking you, subscribing yourself is cheaper and we would rather say so.
